We are covering a lot this week.
First, we are continuing the story of the Hebrews getting the heck out of Dodge (or Egypt) and what goes along with that (Parting of the Red Sea, the Ten Commandments). We are also finishing up Luke, where we read about that somewhat important event to Christianity: the Resurrection. (You MIGHT have heard about that before.)

THEN we get into Acts and Peter & John start dropping the hammer on the Sanhedrin. Good stuff.

We will have a lot to discuss on Sunday, so make sure you keep up the reading.

Genesis 45
How does Joseph's example of forgiveness & redemption & obedience in Genesis chapters 45 & 50 compare to Jesus in the New Testament?

Exodus
Why do you think God chose Moses? (Born a slave, born during a time when Hebrew boys were instantly killed when they were born, apparently had a speech impediment ("uncircumcised tongue"), was a murderer and probably not well thought of by the Hebrews, since he was considered a son of Pharaoh's daughter.)

Why do you think God reminded the people of His covenant to the Hebrew people in Chapter 6?

Luke 18
Like the rich young ruler, when it comes down to a choice between our convictions and our possessions, why is it that our possessions are what we almost always choose?
How can we spiritually check ourselves to make sure that nothing has a higher priority in our lives than following God?

How do you think it is possible that the disciples missed the meaning of Jesus' prophecy out his death, when he seemed to speak about it so plainly?

You've noticed that as we get into the reading, we are jumping into the middle of the story of Joseph. As his life is pretty incredible, you might want to go back and read a few of the previous chapters in Genesis so you can see his story from the beginning. The account of Joseph begins in Genesis 37, then continues in 39 through the end of Genesis. By the way, I wouldn't read chapter 38 to your kids. (Now you're all going to go read that one aren't you?)

Welcome to the Life Journal

Welcome to the beginning of our Small Groups in 2010. As you already know, we are going to be using the Life Journal throughout 2010. It will serve as the backbone of everything that we are doing as a group through the year.

At some times, it will be our only study material, while at other times it will serve to supplement more focused studies that we'll be offering.

If you have had trouble finding a consistent way to read God's Word, this resource will give you a little more direction so you never have to wonder where your daily time with Him should start.

Throughout the year, we will be using this website to discuss some of the readings from the Life Journal. I hope you find it useful and engaging. We hope you'll provide some of your thoughts as well, so that others will gain from your insight.
